These mitts originate from a pair of mitts from the turn of the last century.
Ulrika Andersson, Sweden has made the pattern and they were published in Icakuriren in 1990.
Requirements
Ullcentrum's thin wool yarn, 8/2, 400 m/100 g
50 g of each colour
Double pointed needles size 2 mm/US 0
The mittens in the picture are knitted with a pattern in anthracite on a light grey bottom
The mittens are about 9 cm wide.
If a larger size is desired, you can use Ullcentrum's standard 2-ply sport weight wool yarn (6/2) and needles size 2.25 or 2/US 1 or 2
The mittens are longer than regular mittens, about 34 cm long, and that is because in the past women did not wear coats or jackets but they wrapped large shawls around them when it was cold outside, so mittens needed to have a longer cuff, as the shawl did not reach all the way down to the wrist.
